The CISPA spin-off Backes SRT with its product SRT AppGuard Pro was ranked third for the German IT Security Awards 2014 (Deutscher IT-Sicherheitspreis). CISPA researcher Philipp von Styp-Rekowsky and Sven Obser from Backes SRT accepted the award in Bochum on October 23rd. The award is endowed with a prize money of 20.000 Euros. The renown prize is awarded every two years by the Horst Görtz Stiftung. SRT AppGuard enables users to identify and block hidden queries to private data stored on their tablets or smartphones.
In 2014 66 Teams had sent their application. We are proud that three of the five winners are products or concepts from the three German competence centers for IT-Security: CISPA, EC-SPRIDE and KASTEL.
