At the east entrance of Saarland University the new CISPA headquarters is being built. The foundation stone for the new building, co-financed by the European Union, the University and the state Saarland, was laid on October 21st, 2014. It will become the new home of several CISPA research groups, with room for 135 researchers on four floors. The completion is planned for December 2015.
Together with representatives from state government and University CISPA celebrated the laying of the foundation stone on Tuesday. After its completion the CISPA building will become the University’s new face at the east entrance.
The new building is specifically planned and tailored to the requirements of our cutting-edge IT security research. The design was chosen in an architects’ competition in 2013. The architects Veauthier Meyer Architekten GmbH from Berlin were assigned with the planning for the winning design. In total, the budget for the building is 12 Mio. Euro. To foster the vital exchange and communication between our researchers the offices, meeting rooms, and lecture halls will be located around a central atrium with stair cases. We plan for an extremely short construction time of only 20 months and moving in by December 2015.
